5 Low-Maintenance Indoor House Plants

By March 29, 2017Uncategorized

In-door house plants are in season, which means it’s time to freshen up your home. Plants are meant to be relaxing, so we recommend choosing the lowest maintenance plant possible. The last thing you want on a relaxing spring day is to worry about your plant on its deathbed.

To avoid any stress with your plants, here are our 5 favorite low-maintenance indoor house plants.

  1. Aloe Vera

You probably know aloe vera from the last time you got sun burnt. Not only is aloe vera an amazing medicinal plant, it’s also surprisingly easy to take care of. Depending upon how humid your home is, you can water this little succulent as little as once every 2-3 weeks!

This plant has some fun nicknames, our personal favorite being “mother in law’s tongue.” Feel free to draw your own interpretations of what that might mean!  Even though it looks way different from the aloe vera, the snake plant is another succulent. All snake plants need to grow is a pot, a little water once every few weeks.

  1. Rabbit’s Ear

Can you see the resemblance? This plant literally looks like a bunch of fuzzy rabbit ears growing out of a pot. Expect around 2-3 new rabbit ear leaves every 2 months or so. In case you’re wondering, the hairy leaves are there to prevent water loss during evaporation. Only water once every 2-3 weeks.

  1. Dieffenbachia

The name is a mouthful, but this plant requires minimal effort. The dieffenbachia is a great choice if you’re looking for a larger plant that takes up more space in your home. Just make sure to occasionally prune if it starts looking a little floppy.

  1. Spider Plant

This is another plant that looks impressive, and is super easy to care for. One interesting thing about the spider plant is that it produces small “pups.” Each pup can be rooted in planting soil, and you can start a whole family of spider plants!

Any of these plants will make great additions to your home, with the least amount of effort. If only all plants were this easy!
